Do You Follow-Up?

Most of us have promised to follow-up with people we’ve met at conferences, networking happy-hours and other random business events…but, how many of us actually do it?

An article in Strategic Business Network states that “appropriately re-connecting with people shortly after you meet sends the message that I am serious about a relationship, proactive and willing to invest the time and effort.”

So why do failed follow-ups exist? Is it because we really don’t see value in the relationship? Or do we question the sincerity of the request?

I tried to find stats to answer my random questions – but, I wasn’t able to locate any data.

So, I’d love to hear from you. Please share your post-meeting experiences below!

Here’s what I’d like to know…

  • If you actually follow-up with everyone that you meet (kudos!), please share your preferred method for initiating contact (LinkedIn, email, phone call, etc).
  • If you rarely or never follow-up, what’s your deciding factor for initiating contact? Or, why don’t you follow-up at all?

Once I get a nice pool of data I will complete this post!

Until then, thanks for sharing your thoughts, and stay tuned…
